How it works

Understand. Recruit. Set up. Operate. Scale. Transition.

Six stages from the first conversation to a working India team — and, in time, to your own India operation. No extended consulting engagement before anything practical happens.

  1. Understand

We begin with a conversation about the work rather than a proposal. Which roles are you trying to fill? What does the work involve day to day? What volumes, what hours, what standards? What has been tried before? From that we can give you a considered view on whether an India team suits your requirement, roughly what it would cost, and what a sensible first step looks like.

  2. Recruit

VMG sources and screens candidates in the Indian market against the role definitions you have agreed, drawing on the location or locations best suited to the roles. You see the shortlist and you make the final selection. Recruitment timing depends on the roles: general operational positions move faster than specialised or professionally qualified ones.

  3. Set up

Employment and payroll arrangements are put in place, including — where you do not yet have an Indian entity — coordination through established specialist partners. Alongside that: workspace (remote, coworking or a dedicated office), equipment, connectivity, access to your systems, and the local administration that accompanies employing people in India.

  4. Operate

The team begins work under your processes, your training and your allocation of work. VMG coordinates the local operating environment: attendance, workplace matters, equipment, vendors, employee matters and the practical requirements that need attention locally. You receive regular operational reporting in your time zone, and a single point of contact rather than a list of suppliers.

  5. Scale

Once the model is established, adding people is comparatively straightforward — the recruitment approach, the setup and the operating routine already exist. This is also the point at which most clients begin considering which other functions could sit in India. The team grows in the direction the business actually needs.

  6. Transition

When the operation reaches a size where your own Indian entity and India leadership make commercial sense, there is a clear pathway to transition the team to your own structure, and VMG helps you get there. Some clients make that move; others continue with the VMG model at scale. The decision is a commercial one, and it is yours.

What to expect

Practical points people usually ask about

How long does it take?

It depends largely on the roles. Common operational positions can be recruited considerably faster than specialised technical or professional ones. We will give you a realistic view for your specific roles in the first conversation rather than a standard timeline.

How small can we start?

Two to five people is a normal and sensible starting point. Starting small is not a compromise; it is usually the best way to establish whether the work transfers well before committing further.

Do we need an Indian entity?

Not to begin. Where you do not yet have one, VMG can help coordinate appropriate employment, payroll and statutory arrangements through established specialist partners.

Which city should the team be in?

Whichever suits the roles. Bangalore, Delhi NCR, another metro, a Tier 2 city, fully remote across India, or a hybrid arrangement. The location should follow the talent rather than a template.

Who manages the work?

You do. Work allocation, technical training, professional standards and priorities remain with your managers. VMG coordinates the local operating environment — people, workspace, employment, vendors, equipment and reporting.

What does it cost?

There are no fixed packages. Costs depend on the roles, the seniority, the hours and the setup required. We would rather provide a realistic figure for your situation than a headline rate that changes later.

Alternative route

Or the work can simply be performed for you.

If you would prefer not to build anything in India and simply want the work delivered, VMG's managed outsourcing model does exactly that. You define the requirement; VMG provides and manages the team under an agreed hourly or monthly commercial model.

Some clients combine the two models, using dedicated India teams for core capabilities while VMG continues to manage selected outsourced functions.
