A US-based internet entrepreneur contacted VMG one evening, India time, with a straightforward request: could we keep his live chat support running during his off-hours?

We began that same evening and worked through the night answering live chats. Within days a dedicated team was monitoring the conversations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

That client — and later the buyer of his business — worked with VMG for the next eighteen years, across more than a million live chat conversations. It set the pattern for everything since: begin quickly, build a team around a real requirement, and stay long enough for it to matter.

From outsourced services to India operations

Since 2005 VMG has provided 24/7 chat, email, phone and administrative support to clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to leading Indian corporates to individual entrepreneurs. Every engagement involved the same underlying work: identifying the right people in India, training them on a client's processes, supervising the work and keeping the team stable over years.

What has changed is what clients now ask for. Increasingly, international businesses want a dedicated team of their own in India — doing their work, developing their capability, and growing into an operation they may eventually run directly. That is a different relationship, and it requires a partner able to operate locally on their behalf rather than simply deliver an output.

VMG brings more than two decades of practical operating experience to today's India-team and GCC model. Over that period the same underlying work has been described as outsourcing, offshore teams, captive operations, dedicated centres and now Global Capability Centres. Selected engagements from that history include dedicated operations built in Bangalore and in Noida, near Delhi, several of which were later transitioned to the client.

How VMG works

VMG's head office is in Bangalore, one of India's leading talent centres. From the beginning VMG took a remote-first approach, on the view that the best people are not necessarily those who live near an office, and has maintained extended-hours and 24/7 operations with distributed teams for many years. Teams can be established across India, physically or virtually, wherever the required talent is located.

VMG has developed a network of more than 300 virtual professionals and talent through its virtual-team operations and recruitment ecosystem, which can be drawn on to help form and scale client teams. Team members are selected against each client's specific requirements and trained before they begin, with supervisors reviewing completed work and providing feedback so that quality is managed rather than assumed. VMG's teams are predominantly women, many working remotely from across India, and VMG is committed to encouraging and empowering women in its teams.

There are no fixed pricing plans. Every client's requirement differs, so the people, the structure and the commercial model are matched to it — and each client is given the attention of an only client.

Leadership

VMG is led by its Founder & CEO, Kartik Isvarmurti, an alumnus of Oxford University in the UK. The business is founder-led and deliberately hands-on: clients have direct access to senior leadership rather than working through an account management layer.
